Metasurface Holographic Optical Traps for Ultracold Atoms

In this work, we propose metasurface holograms as a novel platform to generate optical trap arrays for cold atoms with high fidelity, efficiency, and thermal stability. We have characterized the resulting patterns of light which may find potential applications in atomic clocks, quantum optics, quantum simulation and quantum computing.
